    Description

Original Vintage 1955 Northrop Illustration of Scorpion F-89 Aircraft
    ****************************************************************************
This looks to be the original painting done for a Northrop advertisement for the F-89 Scorpion aircraft in 1955.
Painted in a meticulous, illustrative style, the scene depicts the all-weather fighter plane firing its jets and shooting its rockets, with a smaller jet below. Both planes aim upwards in an ochre sky, showing the strength of this series as all-weather planes.
The F-89 Scorpion was this country’s air defense interceptor during a large part of the 1950s.
Item shows very few imperfections /signs of aging.
See photos of the advertisement, and the painting before text was added.
    A rare find.
Matted in gray and framed in antiqued silver frame to 13.75" x 11.25" x .75" thick. Hanging wire on back.
Stamped with frame shop stamp. No visible signature.
