Teac 40-4 Tascam Series 10.5” Reel to Reel Tape Deck-XLNT COND—-Tested/Needs Work. Condition is "For parts or Repair.
This Professional Tape Deck includes the matching custom fit Tascam PRO ROAD CASE and Has the Optional DX-4 DBX Noise Reduction Module. Also includes the Factory Teac Hub Adapters (TZ-612) Will also include a copy of the instructions manual.
DOES NOT Include the 2- 10.5” Aluminum reels and Tape Used for testing in the photos.

This TEAC 40-4 4 Channel Tape Recorder is from a large audio enthusiasts collection. It Looks like it came out of a time capsule. It is in excellent condition. It looks like it was not used very much. It has been sitting for some time.
Overall the condition is excellent- the wood side panels are clean and the face is clean and straight. If you look at the upper faceplate at an angle you can see some light scratches/light spots- the panel is Stainless Steel so it gets marks/light scratches easily. A minor issue-See Photos. It is a little dusty in spots- just needs cleaning. It is as close to New Condition as you will find.
I did some basic testing for the listing. It powers up fine. All lights meters are working. I put 2 - 10.5” reels on it and tested the transport. All function buttons are working- FF and REW are strong. Play and recording works (I recorded on tracks 1 & 3). the counter works and has a light that works.
There are a few issues that I discovered-
The Brakes are Weak and Need to be Adjusted.
The capstan functions correctly- But it makes a clicking noise when running. I touched the shaft and the noise stops- It NEEDS to be LUBRICATED.
The BOTTOM LINE- This Deck has been sitting for some time. It is working But NEEDS to have basic service done to it. For this reason it is being sold AS-IS- For PARTS Or REPAIR
The OPTIONAL DX-4 DBX Module is complete with wiring- HOWEVER it is Untested and working condition is unknown. Again- Being sold as-is.
