in 1988, "Islamic Stripe Patch " is a wonderful and very wearable mixture of deep blues, greens and purples on a neutral background.   Kaffe describes the design as follows "I love the wealth of stripes to be found in the Islamic world.  Every time I have strolled through a bazaar or souk, I have been thrilled at the endless variety of striped fabrics, carpets, and objects.  Pure, exquisitely simple striped bowls were the main inspiration for this crew-neck.  The patched robes of the Sufis gave me a structure, and the rich colouring of Islamic pottery on a stone and sand base the color scheme.  The patches of this crew-neck are charted in detail, whereas the striped background is left for you to fill in as you see fit.  The main rule is not to work too many rows in any one color, so as to keep the variations rolling.  No two knitters will combine yarns in the same sequence, making each sweater unique."   Knit in 20 different shades of vintage Rowan wool and tweeds this pullover is classic Kaffe.  Suitable for experienced knitters. The pattern can be made in any of three sizes - small with a finished chest/bust measurement of 44 inches, medium with a finished chest/bust measurement of 48 inches, and large with a finished chest/bust measurement of 52 inches.   Given the geometric nature of the design you could size it down or make it bigger if you liked.  Relaxed fit with drop shoulder sleeves and striped ribbed borders.   The pattern calls for a tension of 21 stitches and 25 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
