GAF ST/1002 Super-8 Movie Camera Chinon f1.7 6.5-65mm Lens Untested AS IS

Description

Offered here AS IS and UNTESTED is a circa 1973-1974 made in Japan GAF ST/1002 Silent Super-8 Movie Camera in Excellent Vintage Cosmetic Condition, not perfect, with some minor wear from normal, gentle use. Battery Holder is cracked and semi-repaired with black electric tape (see photos), but it does power the motor just fine. With batteries installed in the holder, it takes some pinching and squeezing to get the cover to shut and lock closed over it. Takes four AA batteries (not included).
Hefty and solid, well made camera weighs about 4 pounds.
Inside handle is also a tiny compartment for two button batteries (not included) to power the Auto Exposure functions -- L1560 / L1560F / 625A / PX625A / V625U / LR9 alkaline battery all compatible for this.
No signs of any corrosion in any of the battery contacts.
Motor runs smoothly and sounds healthy at all speeds. With button batteries installed, the Auto Exposure indicators are functioning correctly.
Lens and viewfinder look very clean. Impressive-looking glass -- this f1.7 6.5 - 65mm lens was made by Chinon. Not many Super-8 cameras have lenses go this wide-angle.
No eye cup, but the classic Bolex 8mm and 16mm camera eye cups, which are still readily available, work very nicely on this camera and are a significant upgrade from the original eye cup. The original eyecups are notorious for turning into a gooey, tarry mess. This camera is completely clean and free of any such tar.
No odors of any kind.
I have not run film through this camera, and I do not have the equipment to assess the condition of the optics, therefore I cannot guarantee it is functioning 100% properly as designed -- YOU ARE BIDDING ON THIS AS-IS ITEM WITH THIS IN MIND.
