Description

Authenticated copper coin from the Admiral Gardner shipwreck of January 25th, 1809.  There were three vessels which were lost in a storm off the coast of England on that date,
The admiral was not insured, but the accompanying ship, the Britannia, was insured for about 7000 pounds.  The total loss to the company was over 200,000 pounds.  The ships were discovered, and some items recovered, in the last 40 years.
This is a coin from that rescue.  It is a little tarnished, and does not photograph well through the picture frame, and I am reluctant to unseal the frame....but the coin represents itself well.
