Description
Offered for sale is a beautiful antique opalescent glass bowl made by Jefferson Glass of Steubenville, Ohio. The pattern is Jefferson's #249, also called FINECUT & ROSES. The raised design appears on the outer surface of the glass; the inside surface is smooth, allowing the pattern to show through. The bowl stands on three curved feet. It is made of clear glass, extending into a white opalescence toward the rim. The bowl was made before 1908, when the molds were sent to the Northwood glass works, where the Finecut & Roses pattern continued in production in custard glass and carnival colors, but not in opalescent glass. The bowl measures appx. 7 1/2 inches (19.1cm) in diameter, and stands appx. 2 1/4 inches (5.7cm) tall to the highest point. It is shown with a U.S. quarter in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. This is a magnificent antique opalescent bowl for your collection!
The bowl is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs.
