Description
Offered for sale is abeautiful
antique opalescent glass COMPOTE or PEDESTAL DISH made
by National (Northwood factory) and later continued by Dugan. It was introduced i
n 1901 as their item #617. It's known by its descriptive names, PANELED COINSPOT and CONCAVE COLUMNS. The dish at the top has a tightly crimped ruffle edge, and two of the sides are folded up, giving it the shape of a tiny banana stand. It is made of clear glass
with a wide band of white opalescence at the rim. Four mold seams are visible on the foot.
The compote measures 7 inches (17.8cm) in diameter at the rim, and
4 1/2 inches (10.2cm) wide where the edge
s are pulled together. It stands 4 1/2 inches (10.2cm) tall to the top of the pulled rim, and the foot is 3 1/4 inches (8.3cm) in diameter. It is shown with a U.S. quarter in the pictures, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. This is a magnificent antique opalescent piece for your collection!
The piece is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs.
