These coins were produced at the Soho Mint in Birmingham, England for the East India Company. They are made of copper. In 1809 barrels of these coins were put aboard the
    Admiral Gardner
which set sail from England headed to India.
The ship was wrecked during a bad storm shortly after leaving England.
The ship and its cargo of coins were lost until 1985 when a group of Englishmen located the wreckage, at the bottom of the sea, and conducted a salvage operation.
They recovered barrels packed with the coins.
This coin came from that salvage operation.
    Very Nice Condition!
